Jiea Ruthland Simpson was born in Nashville, Tennesse. She graduated from Spelman College, nation’s oldest institution of higher education for Black women, with a Bachelor's degree. During her time at Spelman College she studied biology with the hope to go into medicine.   However, Jiea Rutland Simpson would switch career paths and get into pharmaceuitcal sales upon graduation due to her love of marketing ideas and building relationships. She enjoys the challenge of consultative sales and making it a "win-win" for the customer and herself. She attended the University of Miamito recieve her MBA. Jiea has won numerous sales awards in her pharmaceutical sales career.     Currently, Jiea is physician relationship manager and service line adminstrator at the Valley Baptist Health System in Harlingen, Texas. With over 2,000 employees and 375 medical staff members, this century-old institution provides excellent service to patients with a mission steeped in faith.   Jiea works with the lcoal physician community to develop community relations and communication strategies. She uses her love for marketing to her advantage, working to improve the hospital's influence within the local south Texas community by coming up with successful social media campaigns.With more and more people communicating online, these campaigns boost the brand awareness of the hospital.
